Coaching Staff - Roberto Alberto

 Dear friends:

I thought I'd tell you a bit more about me. I was born and grew up in El Salvador, in Central America. There, soccer is the national sport. Ever since I can remember, my passion for soccer has been immense. And it's no word of a lie when I tell you that it just keeps on growing and growing as I get older.

Since my arrival in Victoria more than 20 years ago, I have had the fortune to play with many local clubs in every division, from Div 5 to Div 1. I have also had the fortune of playing with some of Victoria's most talented players, many of whom became good friends of mine. I have seen a few great players make it far, but I have also seen a great deal more simply be forgotten because they did not have the right supporting environment helping them follow their dream. It was that very reality that prompted me to grow a desire to help, to volunteer, to coach.

In my view, coaching is more than just setting up cones, hurdles and getting the boys to run around the field all day long. To me, coaching is about understanding your players, their qualities and difficulties, as well as their personalities. By recognizing these things, a coach can then know what drills, advice and knowledge each player needs in order for that player to not only become, but truly feel, like they are part of a team. This is something I have always aimed to do as a coach.

I hope we can count with your support and trust this year. With that in place, the sky is the limit!

Thank you,

Roberto Alberto
